JuRI-Nepal joins FIAN and WomenAct Network to launch advocacy with legislators

On 17 December JuRI-Nepal, FIAN-Nepal and WomenAct Network jointly organised an interaction programme with members of the Constituent Assembly (CA) with a view to sensitize the latter on the key aspects of the right to food in the context of drafting new constitution. The programme was actively participated by some 50 CA members and enaged in the discussion that primarily centred around demystifying the very concept of food sovereignty, food security and the right to adequate food. Seminar on federalism, human rights and inclusion concluded in Baitadi

On 1 and 2 and 4 and 5 November 2014, JuRI-Nepal with the support of UNDP/SPCBN organized a seminar on Federalism, Human Rights and Inclusion in Baitadi and Accham districts of Far Western Development Region. Around 45 local stakeholders representing political parties, civil society organizations, human rights and legal community and media participated in both districts. Memorendum on Right to Food

JuRI, FIAN and RFtN calls for integrating the right to food in the NHRAP Writing a memorandum to the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, JuRI-Nepal, FIAN-Nepal and Right to Food Network (NFtN) called on the Government to integrate the right to adequate food in the National Human Rights Action Plan development of which is currently underway. On 13 June 2014, JuRI-Nepal and National Dalit Commission (NDC) jointly organized an interaction programme entitled "Three Years of Anti-Untouchability and Caste Discrimination Act, 2068" with an objective of assessing the implementation status of the anti-untouchability law.
