Justice and Rights Institute Nepal, (JuRI-Nepal) conducted its 3rd series of Social Audit and Annual Review Program on 20 October, 2022 in Kathmandu, Nepal. As a Chief Guest of the program, Hon’ble Devraj Bishwakarma, Chair of National Dalit Commission appreciated Justice and Rights Institute-Nepal (JuRI-Nepal)’s activities. He has recommended extending JuRI’s activities in all provinces focusing on the rights of Dalits and Marginalized Communities. He acknowledged JuRI’s Nepal’s to National Dalit Commission drafting its several policy documents and providing inputs during their finalization process.
Mr. Nil Kantha Khanal, Deputy Mayor of Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet acknowledged JuRI’s initiatives in a fair and transparent way conducting such activities regularly. Further, he suggested increasing public awareness focusing on civic duties, as the guidelines of the Constitution of Nepal. Mr. Navraj Sapkota, Joint Secretary of National Human Rights Commission of Nepal highlighted the collaboration between NHRC and JuRI-Nepal since its establishment. He suggested replicating model RM initiatives run by JuRI-Nepal in Bijayanagar Rural Municipality, Kapilvastu.
Mr. Ram Prasad Subedi, Chairperson of NGO Federation suggested to promote JuRI-Nepal’s role for prompting civic space and implementation of fundamental rights appreciating its continuous efforts made in that sector. He also suggested conducting such program through mobilization of third parties in days to come. Mr. Mahesh Khanal, Chartered Accountant, who audited JuRI’s account of this fiscal year, has shared his opinion that this was the first public platform to share his feelings during his 25 years working experience about audit process and results referring to the CSOs.
Mr. Pom Narayan Poudel, Advisor, SSDC Kapilvastu, Mr. Ram Budha, Program Manager, Indrenei Rural Development Center, Kapilvastu, Mr. Bhim Ghimire, General Secretary, Jagaran Media Center Kathmandu, Mr. Suresh Bishwakarma, Program Manager, FEDO, Mr. Narendra Paswan, Chairperson, Madhesi Dalit NGO Federation, Ms. Bina Bajracharya, representative of Mahila Ekata Samaj, Ms. Rita Mahato, activist from Rautahat and representatives of ESCR National Network also suggested JuRI to strengthen its activities in all provinces for the promotion of rule of law and accountability.
Mr. Mohan Lal Acharya, Executive Director, JuRI-Nepal shared progress report of last one year. Ms. Sunita Thakuri, Head of Admin and Finance shared annual financial transaction of the organization. Mr. Gopi Parajuli, General Secretary; highlighted the objective of the program and welcomed to all the guests and CSOs/govt. representatives. The program was chaired by Advocate Rukamanee Maharjan, Vice-chair. Ms. Maharjan thanked all the guests and representatives at the end of the program. She has shown her commitment to address all the valuable suggestions and feedbacks from all stakeholders. The program was conducted through semi-virtual method in which 40 participants attend physically whereas 20 participants attended through virtual method. The program was facilitated by Ms. Dela Prasai, a media expert and facilitator.
