Final Draft of Madhesh Province Youth Policy Submitted to the Ministry

Responding to a request from the Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare (MoSSW), Madhesh Province, JuRI Nepal, with support from UNFPA, provided technical assistance for the formulation of the Madhesh Province Youth Policy, 2083. Through the mobilization of subject experts and a participatory consultation process involving relevant stakeholders, a comprehensive draft youth policy was developed to guide overall youth development and participation in the province.
As a key milestone, the final draft of the policy was formally handed over to the Ministry on 19 June 2026. During an official handover and briefing meeting, UNFPA Madhesh Province Head Mr. Narendra Mishra and JuRI Nepal’s Deputy Executive Director Mr. Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel , jointly handed over the draft policy to Hon. Minister Lakhan Das Tatma and Acting Province Secretary Mr. Sushil Kumar Sah Teli. The Ministry acknowledged the technical support provided by UNFPA and JuRI Nepal in developing the draft policy and expressed its commitment to advance the endorsement process through further review and consultation with concerned stakeholders. This engagement has contributed to strengthening the policy framework for youth development in Madhesh Province and advancing government ownership of a dedicated provincial youth policy.
