Model guidelines drafted to adopt gender responsive services at OCMC and Safe Houses
28 March, 2025
JuRI Nepal has provided technical support to the government to draft model Grievance Handling Mechanisms (GHM) related guidelines applicable to One Stop Crisis Management Centers (OCMC) and Safe Houses. JuRI’s review report carried out in 2024 showed that, there is lack of internal mechanisms to address issues of GBV survivors under OCMC and Safe Houses. So, to respond these policy and service gaps, JuRI has drafted these guidelines through a consultative process.
For drafting these guidelines, JuRI Nepal hold series of interactions with Ministry of Social Development in Koshi and Sudur Paschim Province in 2024 including key persons of OCMC and Safe Houses of the project implementing districts/palikas of Koshi and Sudur Paschim province. Recently JuRI has conducted consultations in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Baitadi and Bajhang (during 20-25 March, 2025) in collaboration with respective local governments to share final draft and collect inputs in the draft.
The guidelines have suggested internal mechanism to address existing gaps and promote genders responsive services by the mobilization of existing human resources. The ultimate goal of these guideline is improving services in the existing mechanism and promote accountability of service providers. These initiatives were carried out by JuRI under its partnership with UNFPA.
