JuRI is providing technical support to draft GESI policy in 11 LGUs of Madhesh Province

JuRI-Nepal is providing technical support to draft Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Policy in 11 Local Government of Madhesh Province. Out of them four LGUs GESI policy have been finalized after second consultation meeting and handed to these LGUs (Birgunj Metropolitan city and Pakaha Mainpur RM of Parsa, Agnisair Krishna Sawaran RM of Saptari and Siraha Municipality of Siraha) during 20-24 February, 2025.
Besides that, JuRI also discussed with seven LGUs (Bindabasini RM of Parsa, Nawarajpur and Sakhuwanankarkatti RM of Siraha, Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan city and Nagarain Mun. of Dhanusha, Adarsha Kotwal RM of Bara and Bodhimai Mun. of Rautahat) to draft GESI policy and first consultation meeting was held during 26 March – 3rd April, 2025 in the respective LGUs.
To enforce these policies, GESI Comprehensive Implementation Plan (CIP) developed by UNFPA is also handed over to the LGUs. This support is aimed to promote GESI at local governance and support LGUs to formulate GESI budget and programs at local level. These initiatives were carried out by JuRI under its partnership with UNFPA.
