The civil society organizations working in the field of Economic Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) are all set to forma national network in order to enhance efforts in ensuring enjoyment of ESCR rights for all. Justice and Rights Institute (JuRI Nepal) recently concluded an interaction with the members of human rights fraternity and participants strongly felt a gap of a national network dedicated to promotion and all agreed on to proceed further.

 

JuRI Nepal as discussed will soon share a draft paper bringing to light on the rationale and modality of the network and suggestions from the wider ESCR community will be solicited. Representatives from INSEC, Jagaran Nepal, Eco-Himal, FIAN, CSRC, Home Hermitage Nepal, CARE, CSRC, Nepal Association of VDCs, FIAN Nepal, Sancharika Samuh, AWON, GoGo Foundation and DRCFC attended this interaction.

 

At the same event, participants also contributed their inputs and ideas for developing a memorandum that is planned to submit soon to the National Human Rights Commission NHRC so as to collaborate with the NHRC and urging increased priority of NHRC on the ESCR issues. JuRI adviser, Raju Chapagai shed light on the significance of the proposed ESCR networkand memorandum. Acting chairperson of JuRI Bhim Pariyar wrapped up the event with concluding remark.
