National Network for the ESCR Rights formed

Kathmandu 26 March, 2017   Nepal’s Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the field of economic, social and cultural rights, for the first time, has formed a National Network for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.  The CSOs also confirmed that the deep-rooted discrimination, exclusion and the denial of ESCR rights was one of the key causes of the decade long conflict in Nepal. NHRC welcomes CSOs submission

Kathmandu, 16 October, 2016 Civil society (CSOs) of Nepal working in the field of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) submitted a memorandum to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). A delegation consists of fourteen CSOs and led by Justice and Rights Institute Nepal (JuRI Nepal), called on NHRC to take steps forward to promote human rights with special attention to the ESCR rights. The idea was first thought up during the ESCR Dialogue organized by JuRI-Nepal in partnership with IM Swedish Development Partner.
